Lauren appears as a legal expert for the “Dr. Phil” show, laying down the law to at-risk youth and families in crisis. She has served as guest host/anchor and legal analyst for MSNBC and Court TV, and is a regular on-air commentator for CNN, Headline News, Fox News Channel, and CNBC. Lauren shares her poignant points of view on everything from current criminal trials, civil cases, race, politics, and women’s issues to the latest pop culture news. Lake is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Wayne State University Law School, in her native Detroit, Michigan. Currently licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Michigan, Lauren is a solo practitioner concentrating in entertainment and criminal law.
After witnessing her advocate vigorously for victims of Hurricane Katrina, comedian/activist, Dr. Bill Cosby, hand selected Lauren to be a featured motivational speaker on his nationwide “Call Out” tour, which reaches out to inner-city communities to provide educational support, and awareness of social service organizations that help empower families to create better lives. Lauren commands the crowd with unrelenting passion, and her rousing message of personal responsibility, ancestral power and privilege, brings audiences to their feet. She engages in more fiery discussions on complex issues facing the African American community as a regular contributor on BET’s “Meet the Faith”, BET J’s “My Two Cents” and New York’s Power 105.1 FM.
Lauren also served as a correspondent, expert and life coach for “The Greg Behrendt Show”, where she helped guests navigate through dating dilemmas, career changes, and domestic disputes. You may remember her as the in-your face relationship expert and life coach on the “The Ricki Lake Show”, where for two seasons she served up a healthy dose of much-needed advice and on a myriad of social and legal issues. Lauren’s down-to-earth yet candid responses to the concerns of guests made her an instant favorite on the show, prompting executives at Sony Pictures Television to sign her on as a regular contributor. Lake’s versatility enabled her to serve in various capacities on the show including field correspondent, makeover specialist, and judge.
Lauren is currently the host and designer of HGTV’s Spice Up My Kitchen where she adds some much needed flavor to some very bland kitchens. Lake co-owns L Style Design Studio in Fort Lee, New Jersey and enjoys unleashing her creative spirit by helping clients turn their ordinary homes into houses of style. Lauren was also a featured designer on TLC’s hit makeover show, While You Were Out, where she specialized in achieving designer looks at knock off prices.

Lauren won the hearts of viewers with her no-holds-barred approach to life and the pursuit of her dreams, as well as her witty commentary on single life and dating.
Not only is she a powerful voice in media, Lauren is also a professional vocalist, musician, and a seasoned performer. She’s sung background for and toured the world with many multi-platinum recording artists including Sean “P-Diddy" Combs, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and JT Taylor, formerly of Kool & the Gang. She has written and produced songs for artists signed to major record labels including Sony Music and J Records. Lake writes and records her own original material and continues to perform throughout the New York metropolitan area.
