After coming near death Mark was put on the transplant waiting list where he waited for nearly a year. He spent six months in the hospital, attached to a heart monitor, with time running out. Finally, in September of 2002, the miracle happened. Mark successfully underwent a heart and double lung transplant on September 7th, 2002.
