James Amps dreamed of playing college football for Notre Dame before being drafted by the NFL Dallas Cowboys. After all, he was An All-American Football and Track star while in high school.

His father however thought otherwise. Fearing that his son had no strong educational goals, the elder Amps enlisted James in the U.S. Navy, where he soon learned he was not prepared for the challenges that life was ready to throw his way.

One such challenge came when James, using poor judgment, believed in the wrong friends, which led to a series of events that transformed him into a doer and not a loser. Learning from that mistake, James made a conscious decision early after leaving the Navy to teach young people and grown-ups the tools they need to make responsible choices in life by developing their personal skills and abilities as opposed to becoming oppressed by negative circumstances and environments.

As the 1998 Outstanding Young Man of America & the Celebrity Enterprise Speaker of the Year, and true to his promise, the dynamic James Amps inspires individuals to take responsibility for their lives and develop their personal greatness. James draws on 17 years of business experience as a sales manager, director and recruiter to teach individuals and organizations a new sense of direction, shared purpose and standards of leadership.

James Amps III lectures on personal accountability, and teaches individuals to explore ways in which they can make better decisions at critical moments when tempers flare, when pride is on the line and when emotions take hold. Personal accountability replaces blame, finger pointing, victim mentality and procrastination with positive, uplifting accountable action.

Because of his quick wit and dynamic delivery, James is often called upon to be the opening or closing keynote speaker at conferences, conventions, corporate training sessions and colleges, bringing humor and perspective to life’s day-to-day challenges.

James Amps speaks from the heart - from personal experiences growing up around the world in an Army family, from his stint in the U.S. Navy, as an athlete, a businessperson and helping disadvantaged youth. From his years of experience in sales - as a manager, director and recruiter - James also gives companies a new sense of direction, shared purpose and expectations of leadership.

Personal Accountability & the Challenges of Life
Replace blame and finger-pointing with accountable thinking and action!

When things go wrong, all to often managers blame employees... employees point fingers at co-workers... salespeople blame customers and so on. The result: Your entire organization suffers in productivity and morale.
But imagine the outcome if, instead of asking questions that "shift the blame," everyone asked questions that generated energy around solving problems.

What would a new attitude of personal accountability mean for your organization?

Asking the right questions is what Personal Accountability is all about. Nationally-known speaker and consultant James Amps uses compelling stories and powerful images to show that successful people ask accountable questions

"Thank you so very much for being the keynote speaker at our 4th Annual Scholarship Banquet. You are indeed a delight to hear and you touch us all where it counts. The kids truly enjoyed your speech as you have a natural talent to motivate, and your humor can definitely be appreciated. Thank you for being a positive role model, and inspiring youth to be all that they can be. I hope that you can provide the young people in our program with additional opportunities to learn from you. Possibly through workshops, as guest speaker, etc.. We look forward to learning from you."
