Jane Bryant Quinn
Personal finance columnist
About Jane Bryant Quinn:
Jane--call her Jane--is the nation's leading commentator on personal finance, with books and columns read and trusted by millions. In her long career, she has established herself as America's most trusted voice, for people trying to manage their money well.

Readers see Jane's reporting, opinions and advice in Newsweek magazine, where she writes a biweekly column as well as shorter pieces and cover stories. She also appears regularly in Good Housekeeping, where she is a popular columnist.

Her new book, Smart and Simple Financial Strategies for Busy People, cuts through the morass of financial products and claims on the market today, to the few that actually make sense. It's her personal list of the best strategies for saving more money, finding good insurance, planning for college tuition and investing for retirement.

Her previous book, Making the Most of Your Money, is a comprehensive guide to personal finance. Consumers Union named it the best personal finance book on the market. She is currently working on an updated version.

Jane is also a television personality. She co-hosted an investment series, Beyond Wall Street, running on the Public Broadcasting System. PBS also ran her own program, a personal-finance series called Take Charge! She worked ten years for CBS News, first on the CBS Morning News, appearing twice weekly, then on The Evening News with Dan Rather. She has also been a regular on ABC's The Home Show as well as a guest on Good Morning America, Nightline, and many other programs.

She helped develop the top-selling software program, Quicken Financial Planner, a personalized guide to saving and investing for college and retirement.

Her career includes one of the country's most successful newspaper columns, published twice-weekly and syndicated by The Washington Post Writer's Group to more than 250 newspapers. It ran for 27 years and was still growing when Jane decided to give it, and herself, a rest.

Jane has many awards to her credit, including the coveted Emmy Award, for outstanding coverage of news on television and the Gerald Loeb award for distinguished lifetime achievement in business and financial journalism. She has been named by the World Almanac as one of the 25 most influential women in the United States.

She served on the boards of the Harvard School of Public Health, the Jerome Levy Economics Institute of Bard College and her alma mater, Middlebury College. She is currently a director of Bloomberg L.P., the financial services company.

A frequent speaker and panelist at business meetings and community lecture series, Jane is a spokesperson to all generations on how to handle their money in challenging times. She has five children, whom she says have taught her a lot.
