Turn Your Speakers Into Stars
By Dave Paradi
|
We’ve all seen presentations in which fonts were
messed up, audio or video clips didn’t run, and the
audience saw the “Program” mode when the next
presentation was loaded to run. All of these result in
an audience less satisfied than it should be. In order
for the presentations at your meeting to run smoothly,
here are the best practices presenters should follow.
Use standard fonts. Have presenters use
standard fonts, with the preferred font being Arial.
Properly link audio and video files.

Lighting Can Make Small Meetings Seem Big
By Michael van Akkeren
|
From spotlighting a keynote speaker to creating
a high-energy laser show, lighting is a big component
in generating excitement and capturing the attention
of hundreds of conferees.
But a small-scale lighting plan for an intimate audience
(gatherings of 30 to 75 people) can also generate excitement
and capture attention, and increase retention and awareness
too.
The best part: it’s affordable and one of the best
investments a planner can make. Here’s why:
Lighting sets the tone for an interesting session. Imagine
entering a room which is dimly lit, with colorful lights
on two of the walls, a moving projection of the corporate
logo on the ceiling, and a spotlight on the podium? A few
strategically placed lights add personality and make a
space interesting.
Lighting facilitates communication and helps retain attention.

10 Ways to Spark Creativity at Leadership Retreats
By Rosemary Rein
|
Here are 10 ideas for sparking fire and creative
thought in corporate leadership retreats while staying
within your budget.
1. Follow the Hollywood Model. In other words, create anticipation.
Are managers looking forward to this retreat after seeing
your exciting trailer, or dreading the very thought? Forget
the easily ignored memo; build excitement for the retreat
with inspired pre-event publicity.
2. Show Them the Castle. When Walt Disney was building
Disneyland, he instructed the construction team to build
the castle first so the team could share in the vision
of the project, even amidst the muck and chaos of construction.
Likewise, be sure to kick off your retreat by sharing your
mission and vision.
3. Take Them Outdoors.
